Research interests

I am a post-doctoral research fellow at the plantlab. My current interests are related to role and mechanisms of growth control during envrionmental perturbations. Previous work by Paparelli et al. (2013) has identified that nighttime sugar starvation affects plant growth and size by negatively affecting gibberellin biosynthesis the following evening. The aim of my work is to identify the underlying mechanism that translate the plants nutrient status (carbon in our case) into hormonal growth control (GA biosynthesis). Furthermore, we are investigating how the interactions between nutrient status and hormone signalling is related to plant performance under adverse conditions such as waterlogging and flooding

Before joining the plantlab I completed a PhD at the plantecophysiology group at Utrecht University. Here the molecular mechanisms mediating plant survival strategies to complete submergence were studied in two wild Rumex species. Here combination of next generation sequencing and physiological work was done. You can find a copy here.
